ABTA has announced its 2025 overseas Travel Convention will be held in Calvià in Mallorca next year.
Director of the Spanish National Tourist Office in the UK Manuel Butler said he was delighted to welcome ABTA back to Spain, which has hosted it every decade since it began.
The event will be held from 6-8 October 2025 with delegates staying at the recently renovated Meliá Calvià Beach hotel and the neighbouring Meliá South Beach hotel.
ABTA said: “Located in southwestern Mallorca between the Tramuntana Mountain range and the Mediterranean Sea, the region of Calvià has seen significant investment over the past decade, including the ongoing and comprehensive redevelopment of the seafront at Magaluf.”
ABTA Chief Executive Mark Tanzer added: “I am delighted that we will be returning to Mallorca for the 2025 Travel Convention. With its rich and evolving tourism offering and high popularity among UK holidaymakers, Mallorca is an incredibly important destination for the UK travel trade. For this reason, it’s the only destination to have hosted ABTA’s Travel Convention in every decade since the 1970s.
“This will be our first time hosted by Calvià, however, after a very impressive bid from the Calvià Tourist Board highlighting the exciting transformation of the region over the past decade. I’m looking forward to showcasing this outstanding venue to our delegates next year and would like to thank the hosts for welcoming us once again.”
Juan Antonio Amengual, Major of Calvià said it was ‘a great honour’ for Calvià to host the event. “We look forward to welcoming ABTA delegates with open arms and showcasing why Calvià is a leading destination in the Mediterranean,” he added.
