There’s been an explosion in adventure tourism over the past few years and operators keen to expand their portfolios to make the most of this megatrend should leave space in their diaries during World Travel Market London to visit Import Promotion Desk (IPD).

This German initiative, set up to promote ecological, sustainable and socially responsible holidays will be bringing no fewer than 18 carefully selected partner companies from some of the most beautiful regions of the world to WTM to showcase their products to European tour operators.

All partners have been visited in advanced and thoroughly vetted by experts from IPD and prepared for European market requirements.

Products available include bird watching in the private 15-hectare ‘Hacienda Jimenita’ sanctuary in Ecuador, which is home to 90 species; wildlife safaris in Malawi operated by eco-conscious The Travel Centre; and glamping under the stars in Tunisia.

IPD, a German Government funded initiative, will also be bringing partners from Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uzbekistan to WTM London, which takes place at the ExCel exhibition centre from 5-7 November.

The IPD team will arrange direct contact between travel companies and local ecological providers. Its services are neutral, free of charge and open to British as well as European companies.

IPD described adventure travel as ‘the new luxury’ and a ‘megatrend’, that has grown exponentially since the pandemic. “Luxury is no longer a five-star hotel, but rather very unique, authentic experiences,” said IPD Expert Sustainable Tourism Marius Thümmrich.

All of its partners, from emerging and developing countries, offer highlights you won’t find anywhere else, which tour operators can use to demonstrate that they can offer unique and sustainable experiences.

Find out more by visiting the IPD stand 610 in Hall S3 at WTM.
