There are active wildfires affecting the following resorts on the island of Rhodes; Kiotari, Lardos, Lindos, Genadi and the surrounding area.

ABTA members are working with the UK and Greek authorities to support customers in and around these affected areas. The health and safety of customers on holiday in the region is the number one priority.

Large parts of Rhodes remain unaffected by the wildfires so holidaymakers in these areas should be able to continue their holidays, but should monitor the information from the local authorities and their holiday company.

If you are currently on holiday in Rhodes

Holidaymakers in the affected areas have been evacuated and are being supported by the FCDO, local authorities and their travel companies. An interim process is in place for any holidaymakers who do not have their travel documents with them.

ABTA members are working hard to support those affected and to keep their customers updated.

The Greek authorities have provided three phone lines that holidaymakers can call to speak with the Crisis Management centre that is handling the wildfires in Rhodes, these are:

0030 210 3681730
0030 210 3681259
0030 210 3681350

If you have a medical emergency or require medication which you no longer have on you, holidaymakers should call 112.

All customers on holiday in the region are advised to monitor news reports and follow any advice or instructions issued by the local authorities, their travel company or their accommodation providers.

If you are due to travel to Rhodes today or the coming days

Anyone due to travel imminently to the areas affected should wait to hear from their travel company, and monitor the information being communicated by their travel company about the wildfires.

There have been some cancellations by some companies for trips with immediate departures.

Customers’ rights in these circumstances will vary depending on if they have booked a package holiday or if they have booked the elements of their trip independently.

If your holiday has been cancelled, ABTA members will discuss your options with you, which could be the offer of an alternative holiday or a refund for the cost of the package holiday.

If you booked your holiday arrangements separately and your flight has been cancelled, you should be entitled to a refund for your flight. You will then need to look at the terms of the conditions for your other bookings such as accommodation and transport. You may also want to look at your travel insurance policy.

If you have family or friends currently on holiday in Rhodes

We understand that if you may be worried if you have family and friends currently holidaying in Rhodes.

Many holidaymakers are in areas unaffected by the wildfires and are able to continue with their holiday.

For those that have been holidaying in the wildfire areas, they have been evacuated to a safe location and are being supported by the local authorities and their travel companies.
