Aer Lingus is giving passengers the option to change or cancel their travel plans next week when it says it will be forced to cancel between 10% and 20% of its flights.
The airline is warning that an indefinite work-to-rule by pilots, starting on 26 June, will cause ‘significant disruption’ to its services.
Up to one in five flights will be cancelled between 26 June and 2 July, with passengers informed directly by email or SMS or via their travel agent.
In a statement on its website, the airline said: “Aer Lingus fully understands the anxiety being experienced by customers given the uncertainty caused by the industrial action, and is providing customers with options should they wish to change their plans.”
All passengers due to travel from 26 June to 2 July can cancel or amend their bookings free of charge, or take a voucher for future travel.
While it said it will do its best to accommodate customers on cancelled flights, Aer Lingus is warning that there is ‘limited capacity’.
However, Aer Lingus transatlantic flights to and from Manchester are unaffected, as are Aer Lingus Regional flights operated by Emerald Airlines with the flight numbers EI3000-EI3999.
