A union representing Aer Lingus pilots have notified the airline they will start an indefinite work-to-rule from Wednesday 26 June.

In a statement, the Irish Airline Pilots Association (IALPA) said this will involve pilots refusing overtime and out of hours duties.

Pilots will also only work published rosters and decline to make any changes. IALPA added: “This includes no Friday changes and no changes on or prior to the day of operation.”

During the industrial action, pilots will not log into the Aer Lingus portal or ‘e-crew’ or answer phone calls outside of work hours.

In a statement, the Aer Lingus said it was still assessing the full impact of the work-to-rule, adding: “Aer Lingus will do everything possible to minimise the disruption to customers, but unfortunately a significant level of disruption is inevitable.”

In a message to customers posted on its website, Aer Lingus said: “At this time, there is no impact to our schedule.

“Our Customer Care team will do all possible to minimise the impact of disruption to our customers.

“We understand customer concerns and will continue to keep you updated on developments on our website and will alert customers directly, if their flights have been impacted.”
