Talks between Aer Lingus and the union representing its pilots have ended without agreement.

The Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA), part of the trade union Forsa, met Aer Lingus representatives on Thursday morning, on day two of their work to rule, which includes refusing overtime and out-of-hours duties as well as only working published rosters.

IALPA President Captain Mark Tighe warned more strikes could follow the union’s planned eight-hour stoppage, due to start at 5am on Saturday morning (29 June). IALPA is meeting today to discuss further industrial action.

The Irish Times reports Aer Lingus is considering further flight cancellations next week on top of those it has already announced.

The publication said Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Donal Moriarty said: “We are currently assessing more cancellations out to 3rd, 4th and 5th of July.” He said the airline would tell passengers as soon as it has decided.

Aer Lingus said further strikes would be ‘entirely inappropriate’.
