Travel agents have been thanking the suppliers that went the extra mile during the January Peaks, with some naming individuals who pulled out all the stops to secure bookings.

Gold Medal, Jetset, Canadian Affair, Kuoni and Travelpack are among those supportive operators repeatedly mentioned on Travel Gossip’s Facebook group recently.

Other suppliers that got the thumbs up were First Class Holidays, Classic Collection/Classic Package Holidays, Beachcomber, SPL Villas, TUI, Jet2holidays, P&O Cruises, Bookabed and Major Travel.

Remi Creed of One Travel Club wanted to thank Lisa Pearce at Major Travel for being ‘absolutely amazing’ and added: “Have LOVED all the deals posted by the team at Classic, it’s really helped with my advertising and then the bookings/enquiries have flowed in! Love your new booking portal, Classic!”

Remi added: “Most definitely a huge shout out too for TUI. Lots of bookings made easy with good commission in return.”

Not Just Travel Personal Travel Consultant Sally Ward thanked Gemma Sturge at Gold Medal for ‘confirming a booking a silly o’clock after Shahina Ismail managed to get a price match confirmed for me’, and Natasha Gray from USAirtours ‘for help with an awesome Canada road trip’.

Latin Routes Travel Specialist Alex Lopez was singled out by one agent who said he ‘went above and beyond on days off and in the evening’ to help secure a Galapagos and Machu Picchu booking. The agent described Alex as offering ‘amazing service’, adding he is ‘an asset to Latin Routes’.

Another Latin Routes mention came from Travel Director Jessica Scott, who said: “Thank you Gaynor Latin Routes (Guiliano) for helping me secure an amazing Rio trip.”

Jessica also wanted to thank Amy Holden ‘for the help with the Jumeriah Al Naseem and One&Only booking’, as well as ‘easyJet holidays for incentives, support with discount and the daily offers [which were] a great help’.

Broadway Travel Personal Travel Advisor Becky Aljabbar posted: “I’d like to shout out Shahina and Wendy at Gold Medal, who are both superstars in my eyes; Solmar villas for being so easy to deal with and Gambia Experience for the same reason. Some companies just make life easy and that’s greatly appreciated in busy times.”

Hays Travel Personal Travel Consultant Geraldine Sproston said: “Matt Muscroft from Gold Medal is a star – always goes above and beyond. Can’t fail to mention Lucy Gill from Gold Medal for amazing service and support in the face of adversity.”

She also thanked Karen Spencer from MSC ‘who is always there to help it seems 24 hours a day’ and Aree Saint at Vista (previously Hays Travel Tour Operator).

Geraldine told Travel Gossip: “It’s been my busiest January ever and the suppliers have been so supportive with working out of hours for us homeworkers and giving us some great deals too.”

The Holiday Therapist Personal Holiday Advisor Louise Griggs wanted to “Shout out to Jet2 and TUI for being priced well enough direct for us to match, unlike certain other companies at the moment. GM [Gold Medal] are always a pleasure to deal with too.”

Pole Travel owner Jill Waite said: “Selda Ora at Jetset has been amazing helping us with lots.” Travel Counsellor Helene Kirkham thanked Sian Halsey at Inside Japan for helping her secure her first Japan package.

Finally, Henbury Travel Managing Director Richard Slater said he wanted to give a shout out to ‘all those that said: “See your travel agent” in their call to action on their press and TV adverts’.
