American Airlines has scrapped plans to fly between Seattle and Heathrow airport next summer.

The airline operated the service for summer 2023, announcing earlier this year that the daily service would stop at the end of October. At the time, it said it planned to resume flights in March 2024 for the summer.

Instead, American will add a second daily flight between Heathrow and Miami next summer.

The Seattle-Heathrow service will continue to be operated by American’s Oneworld joint venture partner British Airways.

In a statement, American said: “As part of a continuous evaluation of our network, American Airlines has made the difficult decision to discontinue service between Seattle (SEA) and London (LHR).

“We plan to operate 25 daily flights to LHR next summer from 10 destinations across the US. Our partner, British Airways, continues to operate service between SEA and LHR. We’re proactively reaching out to impacted to customers to offer alternate travel arrangements.”
