Ongoing industrial action across France is forcing airlines to cancel more flights to and from the UK this week.

French air traffic controllers are joining a nationwide strike on Thursday, which is likely to cause disruption to various forms of transport from Wednesday evening, according to the Foreign Office.

While Eurostar said it plans to operate normal services on Thursday, both easyJet and Ryanair have warned passengers of delays and cancellations.

In a message posted on its website today, easyJet said: “We’re experiencing some disruption to our flying programme due to industrial action by French air traffic control

“When Air Traffic Controllers strike, the number of flights that can fly in, out and over France are significantly reduced.

“Sadly this is leading to delays and cancellations as only a small number of flights are being protected by the minimum service covers.

“We understand how disruptive this is to your travel plans which is why we’re asking the French authorities to act now and reduce the impact that these strikes have on our customers in the future.”

Ryanair said it has ‘repeatedly called on the EU Commission and [President] Ursula von der Leyen to take action to protect EU passengers and overflights during repeated French ATC strikes’.

The airline is calling on passengers to sign its petition to demand action to protect flights flying over France during French ATC strikes.
