Italian ground handlers will strike at several Italian airports on Friday.

Industrial action will take place at airports in Bologna, Crotone, Lamezia, Milan, Reggio Calabria, Rome and Venice.

Disruption is most likely at Crotone Sant’Anna, Lamezia Terme International, and Reggio Calabria airports, where ground handlers will walk out from 00:01-23:59.

At Venice Marco Polo, Bologna Guglielmo Marconi, Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino airports and Milan’s Linate and Malpensa airports, strikes are planned for between 13:00 and 17:00.

Picket protests and local transport disruption are likely, local media warns.

Jet2 has updated its information for passengers flying to Venice (pictured) on Friday to say: “We are aware of Industrial Strike Action taking part in Venice on 5th July 2024, supported by third party handling services.

“We are not expecting this action to have any significant impact to our flights arriving or departing from Venice and all Jet2.com flights are expected to depart as scheduled. Rest assured, in the event of flight disruption our dedicated Operations teams are always working hard behind the scenes at our UK-Based HQ to get you on your way as soon as possible.”
