Ambassador Head of Distribution Nicola Harper has confirmed the cruise line is planning to take twice as many travel agents on fam trips next year.
She said it is hoping to run ‘five or six’ trips, each with 30 to 40 agents. This year, it ran three fam trips, with 15 to 20 agents on each.
Ambassador will also host more agents on ship tours, while Ambience and Ambition are docked at eight ports around the UK, and it will be inviting its trade partners to bring more of their customers onboard for the day.
“Inviting agents to bring their customers onboard is a really interesting concept,” said Nicola. “They have a ship tour, a lunch, and the opportunity to book while they’re on.”
Customers pay a ‘small’ fee to participate, but this is refunded if they book. “We did two last year as a trial, starting with our regional ports because it is quite unique to have a cruise ship going out of Dundee or Newcastle,” said Nicola.
“This year we have expanded into [London] Tilbury, we’ve done five this year, we’ve got another one next month, and we’ll do more of these and more agent ship visits next year.
“We absolutely get more bookings from agents’ ship visits, agents message their customers while they’re on the ship, one recently took a booking during the lunch!”
On 22 November, Ambassador will host an agents’ overnight training session onboard, with cruise body CLIA, ahead of peaks. “Ship tours are great, but to have a five-course meal and go and watch one of the shows gives agents the whole experience,” added Nicola.
Ambassador will post 2026 ship visit dates on social media in the new year, while its fam trip places will be given away at events and conferences, as well as being announced on Ambassador’s social platforms.
