Ambassador Cruise Line is to scrap fixed seating in its main dining rooms on all future multigenerational cruises.
The ex-UK operator has open seating in its main dining rooms for breakfast and lunch but operates two fixed sittings at dinner.
From next year, it will do away with allocated sittings for dinner on multigenerational cruises. Most of Ambassador’s itineraries are adult-only, and these will continue to operate allocated seating in two sittings, at 5:45pm and 8:15pm.
In an email to passengers, Ambassador said it had responded to feedback from guests on recent multigenerational cruises.
“Our guests would like to enjoy more flexibility around their dining choice in the main restaurant each evening. Therefore for our 2025 multigenerational cruises and for any that we may offer in the future, we are delighted to introduce a new ‘Open Sitting’ policy in the main dining rooms,” it said.
“This will allow all guests to have the flexibility to dine at a time that is convenient to them, by simple making their way to the main restaurant when they choose throughout the evening, rather than being allocated to a specific siting for the duration of their cruise.
“Due to this change, for our multigenerational sailings only, guests will no longer be able to select their preference of either a specific sitting or table size in advance of their cruise, via our My Ambassador Sailing facility on our website.
“We are sure that this change will be welcomed by our guests and that it will enhance their enjoyment onboard.”
