Armed police arrested a passenger on a British Airways flight at London Heathrow after he allegedly threatened a crew member and used racist abuse.
Officers said the man, aged 46, was detained on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence during the flight from Miami.
He is reported to have started abusing a member of the cabin crew and using racist language about two hours into the flight, during the meal service, according to The Independent.
Other passengers, including an off-duty police officer, managed to control him, first in the galley, it said. The man was later moved to a jump seat used by the crew, away from other passengers.
When the flight landed at Heathrow just before 6am on Tuesday, it was met by armed police officers who detained the man. He remains in custody.
A BA spokesperson told The Independent: ““Disruptive behaviour will never be tolerated onboard our aircraft and we will always take the appropriate action.”
According to the newspaper, musician Ed Sheeran was also on the flight, BA206, although he was not near the incident.
