Representatives from 23 tourism providers in Australia’s Northern Territory and Victoria had the opportunity to showcase their product to the UK travel trade recently.

Tourism Northern Territory and Visit Victoria held events in Manchester and London, which attracted almost 200 frontline agents. The events were followed by a day of appointments in London where product managers from the UK and Northern Europe’s leading tour operators met with suppliers.

In the evening, Northern Territory and Victoria organised a dinner for the product managers, operators, trade media and some additional key decision makers from the UK travel trade.

Guests heard all about new developments in the regions, such as new routes with Air North between Perth and Alice Springs in March, Virgin Australia routes to Ayers Rock Airport from Brisbane and Melbourne in June and a new Qantas route from Darwin to Singapore in December. In addition, Singapore Airlines is increasing its Singapore-Darwin flight to daily from 31 March.

Singapore Airlines will increase its Singapore to Melbourne route to 35 weekly from 26 May. The airline has also launched five-times-a-week flights from Gatwick with the inaugural on 22 June, which will have good connection opportunities in Singapore.

Turkish Airlines has chosen Melbourne to launch its inaugural flights to Australia. This is first time that an airline offers direct flights between Turkey and Australia. Turkish Airlines has an impressive route network and the flight opens up lots of regional connectivity.

Meanwhile, Visit Victoria is partnering with Tourism Australia to host the Australian Tourism Exchange (ATE) in Melbourne in May.

During the networking evenings, partners packaged together some must-do experiences as part of a series of prizes.

A five-day Melbourne and Great Ocean Road adventure included four nights in Melbourne, a tour with Koorie Heritage Trust, Melbourne Foodie Cultural Tour, Moonlit Sanctuary and Koala experience, Zoos Victoria passes, Great Ocean Road Day Tour voucher and five-day car rental.
