Barrhead Travel is launching a ‘Dragons’ Den’ style competition to give agents a share of £50,000 towards marketing projects in 2025.

Announcing the incentive at the company’s overseas conference in Ibiza this week, Sales and Marketing Director Nicki Tempest-Mitchell said branches and departments will be able to pitch to receive investment.

There will be 10 winning ideas and agents will receive up to £5,000 per project to target new audiences.

Nicki said the type of projects the funding could be used for include local advertising and events with partners.

She explained: “We always say our people drive our best ideas, so we thought we would take it one step further. We want to let those with the bright ideas from our employees turn to entrepreneurs.”

The Barrhead Travel ‘dragons’ will be Head of PR and Marketing Karen Musgrave, Finance Director Stuart Taylor, Product and Commercial Director Caroline Donaldson and Head of E-Commerce Paul Whitters.

Nicki told conference delegates: “With a share of a £50k pot to play for, we will invite people from all levels to pitch for funding. We really can’t wait to hear your ideas.”

Nicki also revealed Barrhead Travel is preparing to re-launch its branding for its 50th anniversary next year. It is currently working with Brighton-based design agency Designate, who have worked with other major travel brands including dnata, Travelbag and icelolly.com.

“Being in the business for five decades is no mean feat,” she said. “We always want to ensure we stay and remain relevant as a brand and we have the right infrastructure in place to do that.

“Recognising that strong brands attract growth and new customers, we will be re-launching our branding with a new look and feel.”
