New York City is about so much more than the iconic sights of Manhattan, it consists of five fascinating boroughs, each with its own charms and unique attractions.

To help get to grips with the city, take a deep dive into all that Manhattan, Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island have to offer by signing up to the New York City Tourism + Conventions bespoke Travel Training Academy course.

Curated by a team of local tourism development experts, each of the six course modules describes up to 50 must-see locations in each borough, covering transport options as well as attractions, parks, restaurants and hotels. This gives you the chance to really get under the skin of this iconic city and find out how much more it has to offer than you realise.

You’ll learn need-to-know facts such as how to get to the city from the airports, where to park, how to navigate the Metro and how much to tip, plus the sort of insider information that will allow your clients to experience New York like a local, such as did they know that just steps from the Empire State Building they’ll find some amazing Korean restaurants?

Rockaway Beach, Queens, NYC

Queensboro Bridge, Long Island City, Queens

If you’d like further information about any of the attractions or products mentioned, fact sheets with their contact details are available online from the Travel Training Academy.

After completing the self-guided online course, you’ll be able to call yourself a New York City Destination Specialist – and you’ll have the certificate to prove it. Most importantly, you’ll be able to evaluate which experiences can be combined to build the best itinerary for your clients.

Each module ends with a quick quiz so you can test your new-found knowledge of the city and all it has to offer. It takes about 50 minutes to complete each module, so grab yourself a cuppa and dive right in.

If you need an added incentive, the first 150 who complete the course will receive a complimentary New York CityPASS, worth over £100, for their next trip to the city. The passes must be collected before 29 February 2024 and used within a year.
