A British holidaymaker has died after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Ibizan party resort of San Antonio.

John McKenna, from Carlisle, Cumbria, reportedly fell from the balcony of a room he was staying in with a friend and was pronounced dead at the scene at around 11am on Friday (23 June).

The incident happened at the three-star Azuline Hotel Llevant (pictured), 200 metres from San Antonio beach.

A Guardia Civil spokesperson said: “A 22-year-old British man has died this morning after plunging from the third floor of a hotel in San Antonio. The incident is still being investigated.”

A local medic said John had ‘already gone into cardiac arrest by the time the first ambulance had arrived’, MailOnline reports.

“Health responders tried to save his life but were unable to do so,” the medic added.

The football club he played for, Scotby FC, tweeted: “Today we lost a legend, a brilliant player but an even better person.”

Earlier this month, Travel Gossip reported British holidaymaker Dan Boyle was left fighting for his life in the Canary Islands after he fell from a third-floor hotel balcony in April.

He suffered a fractured skull, a fractured breast bone, a torn kidney and broken ribs in the 30-foot fall.
