A British tourist is one of three people killed in a terror attack at Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda, officials say.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority said a tourist from the UK, one from South Africa, and their Ugandan guide died in the attack, yesterday.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga posted an image of the burnt out safari vehicle the three were travelling in (pictured above) on X/Twitter, and said: “We have registered a cowardly terrorist attack on two foreign tourists and a Ugandan in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

“The three were killed, and their safari vehicle burnt. Our joint forces responded immediately upon receiving the information and are aggressively pursuing the suspected ADF [Allied Democratic Forces] rebels.

“We express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. More details to follow.”

The UK Foreign Office has updated its advice to say: “There have been reports of an attack with three fatalities on 17 October in Queen Elizabeth National Park in Western Uganda. The attackers remain at large.

“The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park. If you are currently in the park, you should follow the advice of local security authorities. If you are able to do so safely, you should consider leaving the area.”
