Brits travelling to Portugal over Easter are being warned of strike action that could cause delays at airports and borders.

Inspectors and admin staff at Portugal’s immigration and border service will strike for five days from 6 April.

Portuguese news agency LUSA said the strike, over the Easter weekend, ‘could cause disturbances at airports’.

The UK Foreign Office has updated its advice on Portugal to say: “Between 6-10 April there may be travel disruption due to Industrial action by Portuguese immigration officers.

“If you are travelling over this period, allow additional time to clear border control when entering and exiting Portugal.

“Check for announcements and follow the guidance provided by your airline or tour operator.”

Meanwhile, in France, air traffic controllers are among those protesting over pension reform, with action set to continue until Easter Saturday, 8 April. The strikes could could cause delays to flights operating over French airspace.
