Carnival Cruise Line Vice President of International Sales Iain Baillie has confirmed that two P&O Cruises Australia ships will join its fleet from 2025.

P&O Cruises Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter will be renamed Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter, he said.

The ships will join Carnival’s Australia fleet next March, when P&O Cruises Australia is shut down.

Exact itineraries have yet to be announced, but the ships will join Carnival Splendour, which operates from Sydney, and Carnival Luminosa, which operates seasonal cruises from Brisbane.

Iain told a gathering of 38 UK travel agents, who were invited on a ship tour of Carnival Legend in Dover ahead of her nine-day voyage around the British Isles on Friday, that Australia was a growing market for the cruise line.

“We are finding an increase in demand from people who want to try more exotic destinations,” he said. “Australia is becoming more and more popular with UK guests.”

However, Iain said the US remains by far the biggest-selling destination, and he said Carnival’s new private island in the Bahamas is also expected to attract more visitors to the Caribbean.

Celebration Key will open in July 2025, and Iain described it as ‘an absolute gamechanger’.

The 339-acre island is more than twice the size of its competitors’ biggest private islands, said Carnival Cruise Line Director of International Sales Luke Smith.

People will have to try harder to match watch we are doing with Celebration Key in the Caribbean,” he told agents. The island, which includes a water park, swimming pools, lagoons, dining, shopping and a private adults-only club, will be able to accommodate up to four Excel Class ships and 25,000 guests at a time.

Currently, Carnival has a Key to Fun promotion to reward the 20 agents who book the most cruises that include a stop in Celebration Key with a trip to the island next summer.

Agents must make the bookings on GoCCL.co.uk before 1 November and register them on LoyaltyRocksClub.com. Celebration Key is included in more than 500 itineraries on 18 Carnival ships.
