Princess Cruises and Seabourn have become the latest cruise lines to announces changes to their sailings due to the conflict in the Middle East.
Princess has confirmed that its World Cruises on Island Princess and Crown Princess in 2025 will no longer travel to Asia or the Middle East to avoid crossing the Red Sea.
Instead, additional ports have been added in Africa and Europe.
The Island Princess, sailing from the US in January 2025, has seen an itinerary change from mid-February to 9 April, when it will depart from Sydney and sail to Melbourne and Perth then on to Cape Town in South Africa, via Mauritius, before visiting Namibia, Cape Verde, Madeira, Gibraltar, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Croatia and Montenegro.
From 9 April, the ship will resume its planned itinerary from Malta.
Passengers who were due to disembark in Dubai on 14 March will now disembark in Cape Town on 9 March. They will be reimbursed for the four lost days and receive $300 onboard credit.
Departing from Australia in June 2025, Crown Princess will sail around Africa instead of Asia and the Red Sea. The cruise line said the itinerary is still being finalised.
Seabourn has amended its first-ever Grand Africa 90-day cruise later this year to avoid the Red Sea, so it will no longer call at Kenya, Egypt, Israel, Oman, Tunisia or Malta.
