Celebrity Cruises has recognised the commitment from the travel trade at its latest Travel Agent Appreciation Awards, vowing to get 1,000 agents onboard Celebrity Apex this year.
More than 80 agents partners joined the cruise line at the ME London hotel on Thursday (11 January) for its ninth awards ceremony, which celebrates the success of travel agent business. There were nine award winners including Imagine Cruising, Designer Travel and Hays Travel.
Speaking at the awards, Celebrity Vice-President and Managing Director EMEA Giles Hawke said 2023 had been ‘the best year ever for Celebrity UK & Ireland’ and was looking to exceed this for 2024.
He said: “2024 is the year we plan to elevate everything. We are looking ahead for our best year ever again. We have some fantastic partners with you and we really appreciate that.
“With Apex arriving in Southampton in May our plan is to get more than 1,000 agent visits over the summer. Apex is one of our top two selling ships in terms of load factors as we move into 2024.”
He added that agents should be looking ahead for 2025 sales as he anticipates there will be a ‘race for space’ for Apex when the ship returns to Southampton for another year.
