China has changed its COVID-related entry requirements for all arrivals.
Travellers must now take a negative lateral flow or rapid antigen test 48 hours before their flight.
The test result must be declared in a Health Declaration Form on the China Customs website or through the China Customs App or WeChat social media account.
Airlines will not check test results but they might be checked by customs officers on arrival.
The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice for China to include information on the new COVID test entry rule.
It said that passengers entering China displaying symptoms of fever, or with an abnormal Health Declaration, may be asked to undertake a rapid antigen test.
“Those who test positive will be asked to wear a mask and may be advised to self-isolate whilst symptoms remain (although there is no mandatory self-isolation for COVID-19),” it added.
Previously, arrivals were asked to provide a negative PCR test result.
