A cruise line offering a three-year itinerary has acquired a larger ship following ‘unprecedented demand’ from customers.
Miray Cruises has bought the 1,266-passenger MV Lara to operate the three-year cruise, replacing the ship it had originally earmarked for the voyage, the smaller 1,074-passenger MV Gemini.
The round-the-world cruise, due to depart on 1 November 2023, will visit 382 ports, seven continents and 148 countries.
The Istanbul-based line said MV Lara would still maintain ‘an intimate feel and experience for the residents on board who are looking to create a like-minded community at sea for the three-year voyage’.
MV Lara will offer redesigned cabins, a business centre with offices, a cigar and wine bar and a 24-hour on-call hospital with medical visits included in the cruise fare will also be available.
Prices for an inside cabin start from $231,078 for three years, with balcony cabins priced from $589,356 for the entire cruise.
Chief Executive Kendra Holmes said: “Our fleet is expanding due to the unprecedented demand for our long-duration circumnavigation voyages to responsibly explore every corner of our planet.
“Our residents are changing their lives for this opportunity and we are honoured to be a part of their personal journeys.”
Before the sailing, Miray Cruises will host a series of welcoming events in Turkey for all booked residents which coincide with the 100th anniversary celebrations of the foundation of the Turkish Republic.
Miray Cruises has owned and operated passenger vessels since 1996. Its headquarters are in Istanbul, but it has additional offices in Piraeus, Greece, and Orlando, Florida.
Gemini will now continue operating short cruises around the Greek islands.
