Riverside Luxury Cruises has cancelled its latest ‘Pearls of the Danube’ sailing because of rising water levels on the river.

The 154-passenger river ship Riverside Mozart had been due to depart Passau, on the German/Austrian border on 19 September for a four-day cruise.

However, the cruise line said it was cancelling the voyage in an ‘abundance of caution’ after the ship was unable to leave Vienna earlier in the week.

A spokesperson said on Thursday (19 September): “Riverside Luxury Cruises is closely monitoring the high-water situation on the German Danube. The safety of our guests and staff is our top priority and, as a result, Riverside Mozart remains docked at Vienna, Austria, and will not continue to Passau, Germany, where the current voyage was scheduled to conclude on 19 September.

“At the cruise line’s expense, Riverside is arranging transfers on disembarkation day to Passau or Munich, Germany, so guests can meet their flights or next scheduled engagement with minimum interruption. With an abundance of caution, Riverside Mozart’s 19 September voyage has been cancelled.”
