Celebrity Cruises has pulled more than five months of European departures on Celebrity Beyond after it announced the ship would stay in the Caribbean next year.

The Edge-series ship was scheduled to operate 10 and 11-night cruises to ports of call in Greece, Croatia and Turkey while based in Civitavecchia, Italy, in summer 2024.

It was also set to offer two transatlantic sailings on 22 April and 1 November 2024, but both have now been cancelled.

Instead, Celebrity Beyond will remain in Fort Lauderdale, US, after its upcoming winter season and offer Caribbean itineraries, calling at Royal Caribbean International’s private island Perfect Day at CocoCay.

In total, 19 European cruises have been cancelled over a five-month period.

Guests have the option to rebook on a different Celebrity Cruises European sailing or receive a 100% refund of the now-cancelled booking.

Travellers who do rebook will receive onboard credit. Passengers staying in all-suite The Retreat area will receive a higher amount than those staying in a stateroom.

Celebrity Cruises declined to confirm reports that passengers will receive $100 per stateroom and $200 per suite onboard credit.

No onboard credit or future cruise credit will be given to guests who choose to cancel their bookings and accept a refund instead.

Passengers who rebook will need to pay the difference if the new cruise is a higher price.

A Celebrity Cruises spokesperson said: “At Celebrity Cruises we are passionate and inspired by providing the best holidays around the world, all the while helping our guests make unforgettable memories.

“We are constantly striving to enhance our guest experience, and as we think of the long-term future of the brand, we sought an opportunity to further elevate our Caribbean offerings.

“Impacted guests and travel advisors have been notified directly and provided with the opportunity to amend their existing reservations for a comparable 2024 sailing and receive a bonus onboard credit, or receive a full refund, should they prefer to cancel their existing reservations.”
