Hurricane Debby is expected to make landfall in Florida in the next few hours, bringing winds of up to 80mph and heavy rainfall.

While Florida’s ports remain open, Carnival Cruise Line has altered some of its itineraries to avoid the storm.

Carnival Elation left the Florida port of Jacksonville a day early on its five-day roundtrip cruise to the Bahamas, departing on Sunday instead of this morning.

Meanwhile, Carnival Paradise is delaying its return to Tampa Bay this morning, waiting instead until the storm has passed.

Debby has been upgraded from a tropical storm to a category one hurricane.

It is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend region on Monday morning, bringing ‘life threatening’ storm surges along Florida’s Gulf coast, according to the National Hurricane Center.
