Cunard has entered into its first partnership with a named chef for the launch of its newest ship, Queen Anne.
Michel Roux of the two-star London restaurant La Gavroche will design a gala menu for the Queen’s Grill restaurant and a new menu for the ship’s traditional-style pub, the Golden Lion.
The latter menu, featuring a selection of ‘refined’ pub favourites, will be rolled out to the rest of the Cunard fleet next year.
The chef revealed at a tasting event in London this week that he will also be a regular visitor on Queen Anne, meeting and greeting guests and giving cooking demonstrations.
Sailings when Michel will be on the ship will be confirmed later, said Cunard.
“I will be spending a lot of days onboard, I’ll be in the galley making sure everything is perfect,” said Michel.
He added that he was ‘really excited’ to be collaborating with Cunard on Queen Anne, which will make its maiden voyage on 3 May 2024.
It will have up to 15 restaurants and dining outlets, including: a new Japanese, Aji Wa; Italian, Tramonto; Indian, Aranya; and Sir Samuels steak restaurant.
The Golden Lion pub, a favourite on Cunard ships, has been modified for Queen Anne to resemble the interior of The Wigmore pub in central London, where Michel has also designed the menus.
He said the Golden Lion menu will include flavours of destinations visited by the ship, even suggesting it could include curry goat pie when sailing in the Caribbean!
