Disney is to close its Galactic Starcruiser hotel that opened in March last year in Florida’s Walt Disney World.
The windowless hotel, where a two-night package costs from $4,800 per couple or $6,000 for a family of four, will close on 30 September this year.
It offers guests an ‘immersive’ experience, including lightsaber training and taking part in ‘missions’ such as delivering ‘secret’ messages or ‘repairing a fuel valve’, plus entry to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney describes Galactic Starcruiser as ‘part live immersive theater, part themed environment, part culinary extravaganza, part real-life role-playing game’, but Disney Parks Chairman Josh D’Amaro said in a press conference ‘it didn’t perform exactly how we wanted it to perform’.
Disney is contacting guests booked beyond 30 September to make other arrangements.
