South Africa’s province of KwaZulu-Natal has bolstered security in the city of Durban, which will host Africa’s Travel Indaba 2024 from 13 to 16 May.

Security measures have been particularly increased in tourist hotspots and around the Durban International Convention Centre, which will host next week’s event.

Ambassadors are also being deployed to help visitors with directions and information.

A total of 75 delegates from the UK will be travelling to Durban for Indaba, including 35 buyers hosted by South African Tourism.

Major Councillor Mxolisi Kaunda said the city, named by the World Travel Awards as Africa’s leading destination for festivals and events for three consecutive years, is ‘dedicated to visitor satisfaction’.

South Africa Tourism said Indaba 2024 ‘serves as a catalyst for transformative growth and connectivity’, with delegates ‘encouraged to contribute to the dialogue, share their perspectives, and become integral to the evolution of African tourism’.
