An easyJet plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger was taken unwell on a flight from London Stansted.

Around an hour into the flight to Belfast International on Sunday (7 May) the pilot declared an emergency over the Irish Sea and diverted to Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

Emergency services were waiting at the airport to provide help.

The flight later landed safely in Belfast after taking off again from Liverpool.

An easyJet spokesperson said: “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY40 from London Stansted to Belfast diverted to Liverpool on 7 May due to a passenger on board requiring urgent medical assistance.

“Paramedics met the aircraft on arrival in Liverpool and the flight has since landed safely in Belfast.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is our highest priority.”
