EasyJet has confirmed that it will base three aircraft at Birmingham Airport next summer, adding flights to more destinations.

It already flies from Birmingham to a range of cities, but having three A320s based at the airport next summer will allow it to offer more choice.

EasyJet confirmed its ninth UK base as it revealed a reduced winter pre-tax loss of £411m, to the end of March 2023.

Its package holiday arm, easyJet holidays, is expected to make a full year pre-tax profit of at least £80m, it said, after seeing customers grow 200% year-on-year during the first half of 2023.

Packages will also go on sale in Switzerland, easyJet holidays’ second source market, later this year for departures in early 2024.

EasyJet holidays is expecting customer growth of at least 60% year-on year, delivering a pre-tax profit of at least £80m for the full year.

It said: “This growth is being delivered through strong customer satisfaction of 87%, with 70% of customers likely to re book.

“As the holidays business grows in scale, targeted investments will be made to strengthen the customer base. This has been demonstrated at Gatwick where marketing spend has been focused, targeting easyJet’s largest base of aircraft.

“Future initiatives are underway to optimise pricing alongside enhancing the product offering through room options and ancillary products.”
