A female entrepreneur has blasted easyJet for leaving people ‘of all ages to fend for themselves’ after her flight was delayed for hours and then cancelled late at night.

In a video posted on Twitter on Monday evening, Simone Roche MBE – founder and CEO of Northern Power Women, a business community of more than 70,000 people – accused the low-cost carrier of showing ‘no duty of care’.

Simone said she arrived at Liverpool Airport at 4pm ahead of her 6.40pm flight which was delayed until 10.30pm when it was cancelled altogether.

Shame on you @easyJet no duty of care delay after delay then boarding only to be led to baggage carousel @LPL_Airport

EasyJet confirmed it had pulled more than 100 flights on Sunday and Monday due to thunderstorms in the Gatwick Airport area.

It is estimated more than 15,000 British travellers were affected by the airline’s decision.

Simone tweeted: “Shame on you @easyJet. No duty of care, delay after delay, then boarding only to be led to baggage carousel @LPL_Airport.

“Zero communication literally left people of all ages to fend for themselves at midnight.”

She added: “There’s no one here from easyJet. No one is giving any advice or guidance. You come through and waited another half an hour to get our bags and nothing.

“You’ve literally just given us a leaflet. It’s 20 [minutes] to 12 at night. I am not the only female single traveller in this airport. It’s pretty much shame on you.”

On Tuesday, Simone told her Twitter followers she had landed in Faro after an early morning Jet2 flight from Manchester Airport.

Before her outbound flight, she said: “Half a day late, hundreds of pounds of outlay and hardly any sleep – made it to Faro via @jet2tweets @MAGAirport – now hotfooting across the border to Ayamonte.

“@LPL_Airport been in touch but not even a generic email from @easyJet.”
