Eurostar is targeting green winter sports fans with the launch of a new connecting service to the French Alps.
The Eurostar Snow service, on sale from tomorrow (31 August), offers customers a sustainable alternative to flying, heading from London to Lille, and onward to ski resorts Chambéry, Albertville, Moutiers, Aime-La Plagne and Bourg-Saint-Maurice.
Eurostar said: “Leaving on Saturday morning, the train will arrive at the slopes in perfect time for après-ski. The journey back to London will depart Sunday morning, arriving at St Pancras International in the afternoon.”
Francois Le Doze, chief commercial officer at Eurostar Group, said: “We’re proud to offer our customers a sustainable travel option to the Alps by launching our first connecting service as Eurostar Group.
“With a quick and easy connection, competitive pricing and five stops to choose from, passengers can enjoy a seamless experience with us from the city of London to the snowcapped mountains of France.”
Services begin on 16 December and will run for eight weekends.
Fares start at £99 in standard and £149 in standard premier, with skis and snowboards included in the luggage allowance.
The Eurostar service was direct until 2020. Weekly packages were available in conjunction with specialist Travelski until last winter, which included train travel, accommodation, resort transfers and a seven-day lift pass.
It is now offering packages for this winter featuring the new service. Connection time at Lille is 50mins for outbound travellers and 1hr 15mins on the return trip.
