A Captain and his Second Officer daughter fulfilled a long-term ambition to fly together for the first time on a Jet2 flight from London Stansted to Tenerife.

The moment was made even more special as Brian Morgan, who has been a First Officer for Jet2 since 2016, had only recently been made Captain before his first flight with daughter Becky.

Becky joined Jet2.com’s pilot apprentice scheme in 2021, after completing her flight training.

“We finally had the opportunity to fly together on a full flight from London Stansted to Tenerife which was not only a great day out for customers but also a momentous day for us,” said Brian.

“I’ve always encouraged Becky to follow her passion when it comes to her career. Naturally, when I began my flight training Becky also took an interest, so when she announced she wanted to pursue a career in aviation as a pilot, I was over the moon.”

Becky said: “When my dad started his flight training, I also took an interest and have fond memories of flying in light aircraft together. However, I never saw this as something I could actually do as a job.

“I was meant to be going to university but wasn’t 100% certain about what degree to do and the career I wanted to pursue. When discussing my options with my family, they were very supportive of me pursuing this career and gave me the confidence to believe that I could achieve anything I put my mind to.”

Since completing her pilot apprenticeship, Becky has operated over 170 flights, flying thousands of happy holidaymakers to destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.

Brian added: “We are hoping that our first time flying together will not be our last. It would be fantastic to recreate this memory and once again take to the sky together as not only father and daughter but colleagues.”
