Visitors on a behind-the-scenes tour of Universal Studios Hollywood were injured when the tram they were travelling in was involved in a crash.

Fifteen people were taken to hospital, but latest reports suggest none of their injuries is serious.

The crash happened at about 9pm on Saturday as the tram had just passed Jurassic Park Cars during the popular ‘World-Famous Studio Tour’, which allows visitors to see where movies and TV shows are filmed.

Los Angeles County fire treated people at the scene and others were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened as the four-car tram turned left onto Avenue M and the last car collided with a guard rail on the right side of the road, causing it to tilt and passengers to fall out.

The cause of the crash remains unclear. Alcohol and drugs are not considered to be a factor.

Officials say that the Studio Tour, which is included in the Universal ticket price, resumed ‘with a modified route’ on Sunday.
