The number of seats on flights departing from the UK in the third quarter of this year reached 51.24 million, the highest ever recorded.
The previous highest was in 2019, before the pandemic.
There was a total of 282,775 flights during the quarter, according to flight data analysts Cirium.
EasyJet operated the most, with 57,527, followed by British Airways with 46,296 and Ryanair with 41,099.
Dubai was the most popular destination, with more than 10,500 flights and 1.5 million seats, followed by Amsterdam with 9,701, then Mallorca, Alicante and Malaga.
The most popular single route was London Heathrow to New York’s JFK, with 2,019 flights and more than half a million seats.
