A hurricane is heading towards the coast of Mexico and is expected to make landfall on Thursday morning.

In an update to its travel advice, the Foreign Office said Tropical Cyclone One is tracking towards the coast of Tamaulipas.

However, it said it is forecast to become a tropical storm by Wednesday and a tropical storm warning is in place along the coast of Tamaulipas state.

“High winds, heavy rainfall and coastal flooding are expected in north-eastern Mexico, with the possibility of flooding and landslides in some areas,” said the Foreign Office in an online statement.

The Foreign Office was already warning against all but essential travel to most of Tamaulipas state on safety grounds.
