The Foreign Office has updated its advice for travellers to the Canaries and Portuguese islands as Storm Oscar moves across the Atlantic.

The FCDO said weather warnings are in place for Madeira, Porto Santo and the Azores today (Tuesday 6 June) and for the Canary Islands until Thursday 8 June.

The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has released an orange weather warning for winds of up to 90 kilometres per hour across the Canary Islands, while yellow weather warnings have been put in place across the Canaries for rain.

Travellers are advised to check updates for the Portuguese islands here and the Canary Islands here.

The FCDO added: “You should check with your tour operator or accommodation provider before you travel and follow the instructions of local authorities.”
