The Foreign Office has updated its travel advice to warn of possible targets for terrorists in Turkey..

It was previously warning that terrorists are ‘very likely’ to carry out attacks in Turkey, with most recent attacks having taken place in the southeast, Ankara and Istanbul.

It says that future attacks ‘could be indiscriminate, including places visited by tourists’.

The Foreign Office updated lists of possible targets now includes airports, large public gatherings including major events and religious occasions, public buildings and places of worship.

Last month, one person was killed in an armed attack on a courthouse in Çağlayan courthouse by the terrorist group DHKP/C, and in January one person was killed by two gunmen in the Santa Maria Catholic Church in Sariyer, in an attack claimed by Daesh.

In 2022, six people were killed in an explosion in central Istanbul.
