A typhoon heading to Japan is expected to make landfall on the main island of Honshu on Tuesday.

The Foreign Office is warning that it could disrupt travel to Japan and within the country.

It said progress of Typhoon Lan can be monitored in English via the Japan Meteorological Agency website.

Southern Japan has already been pounded by a tropical storm this week, which has also triggered flooding in South Korea, across the Sea of Japan.

Tropical storm Khanun is heading towards the South Korea capital Seoul and could hit North Korea’s capital Pyongyang early on Friday.
