A former Royal Caribbean cabin attendant has been given a 30-year prison sentence for filming guests with hidden cameras while they were naked.

Arvin Joseph Mirasol’s victims included young children onboard Symphony of the Seas, where he began working in December 2023.

He was arrested on 3 March 2024 after a young female passenger, travelling with her mother and sister, found a camera under the sink in their cabin bathroom.

He pleaded guilty to producing child pornography after law enforcement officers found ‘numerous videos of children in various stages of undress’ after searching his electronics.

The children shown in the footage ranged from two to 17-years-old.

A release from the US Attorney’s Office in Florida said: “Mirasol would enter the guests’ rooms while they were showering and hide under their beds so he could secretly record them exiting the shower.”

Mirasol, a citizen of the Philippines, had been placing cameras in cabins since he joined the ship in December 2023.

In a statement following his arrest, Royal Caribbean said: “We have zero tolerance for this unacceptable behaviour. We immediately reported this to law enforcement and terminated the crew member, and we will continue to fully cooperate with authorities.”
