Fred. Holidays has expanded its rail portfolio for 2025, with highlights including the UK and Ireland, as well as Europe’s new luxury operator La Dolce Vita Orient Express.
There are also overnight pre- and post-train stays and ‘Rail & Sail’ packages combining train travel with cruises on Oceania and Explora Journeys.
The operator said year-on-year sales of its rail programme have increased by 32%, bookings are up by 15%, the average booking value has grown by 20% and trade engagement is up by 16%.
Four in 10 rail holiday bookings have a value of over £4,000, while 30% have a value of over £5,000 and the operator’s highest individual rail holiday booking this year was £47,000 for two people.
New options for 2025 include a four-night return journey between London and Edinburgh on the Caledonian Sleeper, consisting of two nights in Edinburgh with breakfast and full-day excursion to Glenfinnan Viaduct, Glencoe and Fort William, from £799 per person.
Also new is a six-night ‘Dublin and Belfast by Rail and Sea’ tour, from £849pp and a five-night ‘Prague by Sleeper Train’ option from £949pp.
Ocean and rail combinations include a 15-night ‘La Dolce Vita Orient Express & Oceania Allura Rome to Monte Carlo’ trip, with three nights in Rome with breakfast; a two-night return journey to Venice and Tuscany on La Dolce Vita Orient-Express with all meals, selected drinks and off-train excursions; a 10-night cruise on Oceania Allura from Rome to Monte Carlo, overseas transfers and flight from Nice to London, from £11,999pp.
