G Adventures has opened up more trips for people over 40 in an expanded 2025 programme that includes Tibet for the first time since before the pandemic.

The adventure operator has added more ‘Classic’-branded value-for-money safaris in Africa and multi-country trips in Central America that were only previously available to travellers aged up to 39.

Vice President of Product Yves Marcaeu said older customer are looking for more ‘basic, grass roots’ adventure experiences at affordable prices.

“When we looked at the data, we could clearly see the time is right to open up a set of fast-paced, longer, more basic itineraries to an older crowd looking to see and do as much as they can,” he said.

“These are longer trips that have been traditionally more popular with younger travellers who typically have less money and more time. We certainly have a segment of customers who are growing older, yet still looking for a more ‘rugged’ and exploratory style of adventure. These trips are perfect for them.”

The new Africa Classic trip will feature a refurbished fleet of ‘Lando’ overland vehicles, that will have a purified water dispenser, AI units to improve driving efficiency and safety, upgraded USB charging units for each seat, and upgraded tents, chairs and mattresses.

In Central America, accommodation will remain basic, but travellers older than 39 will now be able to explore deeper and have access to El Salvador and Honduras.

G Adventures is also bringing Tibet back for the first time since before the pandemic. A new ‘Classic’ South Korea has been added, which can be combined with Japan. The 12-day Essential Tibet tour from Chengdu to Kathmandu costs from £2,299pp. A 16-day Korea and Japan from Seoul to Tokyo starts from £4,599pp.

A 27-day East Africa Overland Safari through seven countries from Johannesburg to Nairobi starts from £3,499per person and a 32-day Central America in Seven Countries from Mexico to Costa Rica is from £2,049pp.
