G Adventures and Planeterra have announced the line up for the inaugural GX event, which will feature the first World Community Tourism Summit on World Tourism Day (27 September).
During the event, which runs from 22-27 September, a total of 13 UK agents and partners will join G Adventures’ network of suppliers, media, staff, and travellers on various itineraries across Peru.
The event was announced earlier this year and the aim of GX is for guests to experience the positive impact community tourism can have on a destination.
The event culminates on World Tourism Day, with a programme of informative discussions and keynote talks, and will conclude with a dinner and party at the ancient temple of Qorikancha in Cusco, and a private performance by the Village People.
Included in the lineup of speakers are travel expert and author Jessica Nabongo, adventurer and presenter Tyson Mayr, and eco-explorer Mario Rigby, who will talk about how community tourism has impacted them on their travels.
Bruce Poon Tip, founder of both G Adventures and Planeterra, said GX will be a groundbreaking and life-changing event for guests.
He explained: “This event is going to be a celebration like no other. I can’t wait to show our community of communities just how transformative travel can be when it’s done right – not just for local people, but also for our guests as they see what a pivotal role they play in empowering people working in the tourism sector.
