Flights from London Gatwick continue to be delayed today after the runway was temporarily closed last night when an Airbus A380 got stuck.

All flights were grounded for almost an hour from around on Tuesday evening while waiting for the Emirates double-decker aircraft to be towed away.

Flight EK9 from Dubai had performed a missed approach due to a landing gear issue, according to Flightradar24.

It then stopped at the western end of the runway, surrounded by fire engines.

Other flights from around 8pm last night were diverted to London Luton, London Stansted and Birmingham until the aircraft was moved.

Gatwick’s departure board shows that almost all early morning flights were delayed today by up to three hours or more.
