Cosmos, Globus and Avalon Waterways UK Chief Executive Giles Hawke is to leave at the end of the summer, the company has confirmed.

Giles has been with the touring and river cruise specialist since April 2016.

The announcement comes just a few days after the operator’s Sales and Marketing Director Janet Parton revealed she was leaving to become Celestyal Cruises’ Vice President of Business Development for the UK, Europe and Australia.

The pair previously worked together at Carnival UK and then MSC Cruises before moving to Cosmos, Globus and Avalon Waterways in 2016.

The US-headquartered company has confirmed the departures are not connected and added the search for Giles’ successor was already underway.

“The process is being headed up by the company’s talented leadership team who will be working with the CEO and ensuring a seamless transition,” it said.

The company added that under Giles’ watch the brands had gone ‘from strength to strength with increased product, services and business growth’.

It added that Giles was ‘renowned across the travel industry for his breadth of knowledge, insight and innovation’.

Giles said: “The last seven years have flown by, and I cannot thank the team enough for their commitment, professionalism, and dedication.

“I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved both externally with our trade partners and customers and internally with the service we offer and the culture we’ve created.

“Making the decision to leave has been extremely difficult.”
