Cherie Richards has been appointed Head of Business Development at Hays Travel, a new position that will build recruitment across the group.

Cherie, who began her career in travel 30 years ago, joined Hays Travel’s Homeworking division in 2022, reporting to Head of Personal Travel Consultants (PTC) Tanya Cooper.

In her expanded role, Cherie will join Hays’ senior leadership team, reporting directly to Chief Operating Officer Jonathon Woodall-Johnson.

She will work with Hays Travel Independence Group Head Natasha Marson and Explorer Franchise Head Steven Reilly, as well as continuing to work with Tanya and Amy Brookes in the PTC teams.

Since joining Hays Travel, Cherie has been responsible for recruiting self-employed Personal Travel Consultants and PTC Leads Supported members, achieving 90% growth in recruitment to the division in the calendar year to date.

Jonathon Woodall-Johnson said: “Since joining us just a year ago, Cherie has been a great asset to Hays Travel and her impact on our Personal Travel Consultant division has been remarkable.

“Cherie has decades of experience in our sector and is highly thought of, particularly among independent agents.

“We are delighted to appoint her to this leadership role, where she will support strategic growth across our PTC, Independence Group and Franchise areas, building on the excellent work that the division heads are already achieving.”
