InteleTravel agents were hit with a temporary ban from booking Touchdown’s trade rates after fears some were abusing their access to the discounted deals.

Some agents were understood to be passing on the preferential rates, intended only for industry employees, onto others outside the industry.

InteleTravel UK and Ireland Managing Director Tricia Handley-Hughes told agents in a Facebook post that access to Touchdown had been suspended until the issue was resolved.

She later issued a press statement saying: “We don’t allow any abuse of rates or supplier policies and we moved quickly to deal with a few isolated incidents.

“We are always happy to work with our partners to ensure compliance and delighted this misunderstanding has been quickly resolved.”

In her Facebook post, seen by Travel Gossip, Tricia had warned agents that abusing Touchdown rates risked damaging InteleTravel’s reputation ‘that we have fought hard to defend and protect’.
