Israel’s Ministry of Tourism in the UK has offered its support to British travellers and tourists affected by the terror attacks that have taken place in the south of the country.

More than 10 Brits are feared dead or missing in Israel following attacks by the Islamist group Hamas that began on Saturday morning. It is believed that around 900 people have been killed in the country, including 260 people at a music festival.

A statement on behalf of the Israel Ministry of Tourism in the UK said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened by the events that have taken place in Israel over the weekend. We offer our condolences to those who have been affected by the current situation.

“We are monitoring the situation and are committed to ensuring that all tourists visiting Israel are safe and informed. Israel’s Ministry of Tourism will provide all necessary assistance to those who need it and is operating a tourist hotline via WhatsApp for tourists to stay informed on the situation as it evolves.

“We appreciate the support of the UK and fellow nations in a difficult time for the Israeli nation.”

Details of the Ministry of Tourism’s virtual office for those in the country are:

WhatsApp inquiries: +972-55-972-6931

Alternatively, visitors can dial 104 for information and advice in several languages or contact Home Front Command on WhatsApp and SMS on +972 (0) 52-9104104

UK visitors are advised to get in touch with their travel agent, airlines and/or UK embassy in Israel.

Yesterday Travel Gossip reported a number of flights have been grounded between the UK and Tel Aviv and some cruises cancelled. Today cruise line Celestyal announced it will temporarily suspend all calls to Israel on its ‘Three Continents’ cruise until the end of November 2023, and the situation will be monitored for any itineraries departing after this date.

The three affected cruises are those that depart on 21 and 28 October 21, and 4, 11, 18 and 25 November. Celestyal will contact customers and agents directly.
